When the coronavirus pandemic broke out, looking for editorial projects, I found a small work of art in anticipation books: The Scarlet Plague by Jack London. In this work, that London located in 2013 and wrote in 1912, civilization collapses, facing a deadly virus for which there is no cure and spreading at a speed unknown until then. In a matter of days, the vain exodus of the inhabitants empties the cities, which are devastated by looting, fires, and violence. London’s work sparked my imagination and led me to write this little book, that is nothing more than current variations on the themes London wrote 108 years ago. These variations reflect my anguish and discomfort for the times of the coronavirus that we have had to live.
